A little bit of Oz

Sydney Part I

God, it was ages ago. We left Fiji? Oh yes! Al had recovered a bit and we went for breakfast where Fiji time was in full swing. It took fifty mins to get my banana smoothie.

We then flew to Sydney! By pure luck, we ended up in a great neighbourhood called Newtown. Keen to explore and starving, because Virgin are cheap af and gave us NOTHING on a four hour flight, we went out and had THE MOST DELICIOUS VEGAN VIETNAMESE MEAL EVER. Veganism is magic is their tag line and I whole heartedly agree, sirs!

I then renounced my new found veganism by indulging in a delicious mint choc chip ice cream while we wandered around the book shops and soaked it all up. Lovely!

Ballina

The next day we did more exploring and I got a really weird book about Fitzgerald and Hemingway's relationship for only four dollars. Got another banana smoothie - only took five mins, but at five times the price!

Then we flew to Ballina to see our old chum Paige. Our taxi driver was mental - are the muslims taking over England too? 🤔, but he did assure me that we had made a great decision by going travelling. Thank you bab.

We arrived at Paige's and met her dreamy fiancé Steve, who is a dream. We relaxed with a few beers (can be viewed on Al's fab new insta thingsiamhaving) and then Paige came home! It was divine to see her and we all went for a delicious dinner. They are perhaps the sweetest people alive and treated us for dinner sneakily when we went for a fag, so sweet.

The next day, Paige dropped us in Byron Bay (Birahbayh) and went to work. We went to the beach - dreamy white sand like icing sugar - for a few hours and then had another lovely vegan lunch. We then did the hike to the lighthouse, which was super fun! On the way down, we saw a wallaby, which would've been much more exciting if we hadn't had thought that it was a kangaroo and had to be corrected later on when we presented Steve and Paige with the photo evidence.

Paige and Steve came to meet us, we had a few drinks and then went for an absolutely delicious Thai dinner and then sat at the beach listening to music and chatting and it was just lovely.

The next day Paige worked from home, so we chilled. In the afternoon, we all went to the Gold Coast. Paige and Steve took a flight to NZ and it was so sad to say goodbye after being reunited after five years, but we went to the pretty beach and then accidentally walked about seven miles before catching a flight back to Sydney, exhausted and ready to sleeep.

Sydney Part II

Al is writing about Sydney, but stayed tuned as - spoiler alert - we saw bloody Russell Crowe walking down the street!
